Are you a Florida Veteran Interested in Free Job Training?
Contact Corey McCaster today at (850) 270-8218 or cmccaster@hbi.org

The HBI PACT for Veterans program is open to all veterans who are residents of Florida. With sites in Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando, veterans have access to free training, certification and job placement in the state’s home building, remodeling and light commercial construction sectors.

Veterans who participate in the HBI program will receive training in all facets of general construction and facilities maintenance, including:

  • Carpentry
  • Electrical wiring
  • Landscaping
  • Masonry
  • Painting
  • Plumbing
  • Weatherization

Each participating veteran in the HBI program will receive:

  • Screening and assessment to develop an individualized training plan;
  • Skills training;
  • Certification;
  • Job search and placement assistance; and
  • Free set of hand tools and personal protective equipment (for veterans placed in jobs in the building industry).

Construction employers report difficulty finding qualified workers at all levels of the industry from entry-level and semi-skilled craft workers to managers and subcontractors. Currently, 12 of the 20 “hot jobs” in Florida are construction-industry related, according to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

Veterans and construction industry employers can contact Corey McCaster at (850) 270-8218 for information on how to participate.

HBI PACT is funded by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity
