Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training

The Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training (PACT) curriculum is a home building industry-validated construction curriculum specifically designed to teach special populations including academically-challenged individuals.

HBI uses the PACT curriculum in its Project CRAFT, Project TRADE, Operation Reconstruct and YouthBuild programs.

PACT features techniques and practices based on the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines and aligns with the ICC-700 2008 National Green Building Standard™, the residential construction industry’s rating system approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

PACT relies on time-honored apprenticeship approach to learning craft skills, combining classroom instruction and hands-on training on the job site.

Skill Achievement Records (SARs) track competencies in eight trades: Brick masonry, carpentry, electrical, facilities maintenance, landscaping, painting, plumbing and weatherization.

Contextual learning specific to each trade, safety, construction math and tool and material identification are part of the curriculum.
