Lowe’s Companies Inc. has now contributed a total of  $300,000 to HBI to establish and maintain the HBI/Lowe’s Building Careers Scholarship Fund, which helps the institute’s Job Corps graduates make successful transitions to full-time employment in the housing industry.

The Lowe’s scholarship has thus far helped nearly 250  students defray initial job-related costs such as transportation, insurance, relocation and housing, tools and work clothes.  Lowe's and HBI recognize that these can become an overwhelming challenge to students with limited financial resources as they are just beginning their careers. The funds help ensure that Job Corps graduates have the necessary financial support to remain focused on their new jobs.

Additionally, the funds may also help pay school tuition and books for students who choose to continue their training.
