Youth Training
HBI provides employable skills to some of our nation’s unemployed and underemployed segments of the population. Skilled trades training on 69 Job Corps campuses prepare more than 2,000 youth ages 16-24 for careers in the building industry. HBI’s Project CRAFT is widely recognized as a national model in training adjudicated juveniles, while Youthbuild grantees across the country can access HBI’s expertise via a HUD technical assistance grant.
Job Corps
HBI has partnered with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Job Corps program for more than 30 years, training and placing more than 2,000 young people annually in the residential construction industry. Students enrolled in Job Corps learn the construction skills they will need to pursue careers in home building. At the same time they build their lives, they also help meet the workforce needs of the housing industry where more than 200,000 new workers are needed each year.
Project CRAFT
Project CRAFT is a congressionally recognized model intervention program which trains and prepares adjudicated youth to enter employment positions in the home building industry. This comprehensive training model gives students the means to turn their lives around, while also addressing the workforce needs of the residential construction industry.
Youthbuild
HBI and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Youthbuild have teamed up to offer thousands of America’s low income youth access to industry sponsored vocational training and the opportunity to build a career in the home building industry.
